Malayalam actor Mammootty has finally reacted to the ongoing crisis within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), days after the organisation's entire executive committee, including president Shwetha Menon, stepped down following a turbulent general body meeting.

When asked about the ongoing controversy within AMMA, Mammootty initially responded with humour, saying, "I was wondering why you hadn't asked that yet." The 74-yer-old actor then declined to get into specifics and instead urged patience. "Let things pan out, a decision will be reached; it's okay," he said.

As reporters pressed him further, Mammootty suggested that the situation should be allowed to unfold naturally. "We can only see things as they unfold, can't we? The next moment is not in our hands, after all. All problems must be resolved, and they will be. These are just small matters, aren't they?" he remarked, appearing to downplay the crisis while expressing confidence that the issues within the organisation would eventually be resolved.

Mammootty made the remarks while interacting with the media after receiving the Padma Bhushan from President Droupadi Murmu during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Mammootty's comments come at a time when AMMA is facing one of its biggest internal crises in recent years. The latest controversy erupted after the organisation's 17-member executive committee, headed by actor and the first female president of AMMA, Shwetha Menon, resigned following a no-confidence motion and heated discussions during the annual general body meeting in Kochi.

The crisis escalated further after Menon publicly criticised the previous committee and alleged financial irregularities in the organisation's earlier functioning. She claimed that her committee had identified discrepancies in accounts that predated its tenure and said she was unwilling to remain a "play doll" or "puppet" within the organisation.

Following the mass resignation, AMMA's general body appointed an ad-hoc committee led by actor and Palakkad MLA Ramesh Pisharody to oversee the organisation until fresh elections are conducted. The developments have once again placed the influential Malayalam film body under intense scrutiny, nearly a year after the fallout triggered by the Justice Hema Committee report.
