Actor Kayadu Lohar addresses criticism over not promoting Tamil film Immortal

Actor Kayadu Lohar addressed criticism over her promoting Malayalam film, I'm Game, and not her Tamil cilm, Immortal. She said date clashes, a film shoot and online scrutiny shaped the reaction around her appearances.

Actor Kayadu Lohar has responded to criticism over her absence in participation for the promotion of her Tamil film Immortal, which stars GV Prakash Kumar alongside her. A section of the audience has questioned why the actor promoted her other recent release, I’m Game, co-starring Dulquer Salmaan, while seemingly not doing enough for Immortal.

Speaking about the criticism in an interview with Galatta Plus, Kayadu said she has not paid much attention to the controversy. “I haven't gotten into any of this (controversy). But I don't know why people have started talking about it. I'm not paying too much heed to it, because I had that one day available for I'm Game promotion and the team over here for Immortal, they didn't have that day.”

Kayadu explained that she was supposed to participate in Immortal promotions for a day, but date clashes prevented it from happening. She also revealed that she was shooting for another film at the time.

“You know how film shootings are. It's just not me who has to go and turn up on set; a lot of other things are also happening. I was shooting for a film, and then, I couldn't be a part of the promotion. But I just feel like I don't have to explain it to anybody. There was I'm Game promotion also happening, for which I didn't turn up,” she clarified.

The actor also acknowledged the audience's perception that she may have prioritised one film over the other. “I'm used to it,” she said.

Interestingly, Kayadu also agreed that the intense scrutiny surrounding her promotional appearances may have contributed to her taking a break from social media. She suggested that there was a political element to the criticism as well.

“I'm very bad with this. I'm just a very innocent, honest person. I'll just speak my heart out,” she said, adding that she has made peace with the fact that artists are often subjected to criticism and scrutiny online.

On the work front, actor Kayadu Lohar will be seen next in Nani's The Paradise, Thaaram, Manjanaththi and Suriya 48, which are at different stages of production.
