ABHISHEK LIGHTS UP DURHAM
Abhishek produced another breathtaking T20I knock, rescuing India after the early dismissals of Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan left the visitors reeling at 6 for 2. Unfazed by the collapse, the left-hander launched a fearless counterattack, taking on both pace and spin with remarkable intent.
He got off the mark with a sublime lofted drive over covers against Luke Wood before shifting gears against Liam Dawson, clearing extra cover with a stunning six. Saqib Mahmood bore the brunt of Abhishek's aggression as the opener hammered a pull for four and followed it up with back-to-back sixes over the leg side.
He continued the assault against Wood, striking three boundaries in the fifth over with crisp drives and inventive strokeplay. Abhishek reached his fifty in just 20 balls, bringing up the milestone with a single off Adil Rashid, before extending the carnage by launching Will Jacks straight down the ground for another maximum.
His dazzling innings ended on 59 off only 24 balls, studded with six fours and four sixes. Sam Curran trapped him lbw with a clever back-of-the-hand slower ball that pitched in line and struck him in front. Although the on-field umpire initially turned down the appeal, England reviewed successfully as ball-tracking showed the delivery crashing into leg stump, bringing an end to Abhishek's explosive knock.
