Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Sant Ravidas Express on July 17, introducing a new premium overnight train between Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and Chheharta near Amritsar in Punjab. The new service is expected to improve connectivity between two of North India's most important spiritual destinations while offering passengers a faster and more comfortable travel experience.

The train, which features modern sleeper coaches, will operate three days a week and is expected to strengthen both pilgrimage travel and regular rail connectivity between the two cities.

ROUTE AND TIMINGS

The Sant Ravidas Express will run between Varanasi and Chheharta, a railway station near Amritsar.

The train will depart Varanasi at 7.05 pm, reach Lucknow at 12.10 am, arrive in Amritsar at 4.35 pm the following day and terminate at Chheharta at 5.10 pm.

On the return journey, it will leave Chheharta at 2.05 pm, stop briefly at Amritsar, reach Lucknow at 7.30 am and arrive in Varanasi at 12.15 pm the next day.

MAJOR STOPS ON THE ROUTE

The train will stop at several important stations, improving connectivity for travellers across northern India. Besides Varanasi, Lucknow, Amritsar and Chheharta, the service will halt at other key stations along its route, making it useful for both long-distance passengers and pilgrims.
