Kangana Ranaut's Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata recorded growth at the box office on its first Sunday, but the film remained behind its rivals in a crowded weekend release slate.

According to early estimates from trade website Sacnilk, the film earned around Rs 1.80 crore nett on Day 3 while playing across 1,914 shows nationwide.

The Day 3 collection was 24.1 per cent higher than its Day 2 earnings of Rs 1.45 crore, and also marked a jump from its opening-day figure of Rs 1 crore. With this, the film's estimated three-day India nett total has reached Rs 4.25 crore, while its India gross collection stands at around Rs 5.09 crore.

Even with the weekend growth, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata could not match the pace of the other major releases. Vikram Bhatt's horror thriller Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past emerged as the clear box-office winner over the same three-day period.

Haunted 3D collected an estimated India gross of Rs 11.03 crore and a net of Rs 9.35 crore across 10,807 shows, outperforming Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata and becoming the strongest performer among the new releases.

Meanwhile, Main Vaapas Aaunga also stayed ahead of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata at the box office. The Imtiaz Ali directorial collected an estimated Rs 2.50 crore net on Day 3 from 2,155 shows nationwide. Its total India gross collection has now reached around Rs 6.60 crore, while its cumulative India net stands at Rs 5.50 crore.

The comparatively modest performance of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata has come despite support from state governments. The film was recently declared tax-free in both Haryana and Delhi.

Based on the events surrounding the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the film highlights the courage, compassion and resilience shown by healthcare workers during one of the country's darkest nights. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film also features Girija Oak, Smita Tambe, Amrutha Namdev, Esha Dey, Priya Berde, Asha Shelar, Suhita Thatte, Rasika Aghase, Aditya Mishra and Zahid Khan in key roles.

In the first three days of its run, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata showed steady growth, but remained behind both Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past and Main Vaapas Aaunga at the box office.
