The post came amid continued speculation around Vijay and Trisha, who have been rumoured to be in a relationship, even as Vijay is involved in an ongoing divorce case.

The election results prompted congratulatory messages from the film industry. Amid the political buzz, Trisha marked her 43rd birthday, and Lakshmi linked the occasion to Vijay's electoral performance in a social media post that quickly became a talking point online.

Lakshmi linked Vijay's victory to Trisha's birthday gift in a note on X. She wrote, "Happy Birthday to the ever gorgeous and graceful @trishtrashers! What a day to celebrate! I guess the universe decided to give you the best birthday gift with that massive victory! Double celebrations for you today! Have a magical one, darling (sic)!"

Her message was widely shared, with many fans repeating the phrase "double celebrations." At the same time, some social media users said the remark was insensitive in view of Vijay's reported separation from his wife, Sankgeetha Sornalingam.

Trisha's 43rd birthday

Earlier in the day, Trisha began her birthday with a darshan at the Tirupati temple. She was later seen visiting Vijay's residence in Chennai. As she left, she waved at those gathered outside and flashed a thumbs-up, a gesture that many read as a subtle acknowledgement of TVK’s strong showing in the election trends.

In recent months, Vijay and Trisha have repeatedly faced online speculation about their personal relationship, especially after their joint appearance at a wedding reception earlier this year. Neither of them has publicly addressed the rumours.

Vijay's personal life

Attention on Vijay's personal life has grown as he makes his transition into politics with TVK. Alongside the controversy around his film Jana Nayagan, reports related to his divorce filings have brought his private life into wider public and political discussion.

Sankgeetha filed for divorce in December 2025. In her filing, she accused Vijay of having an extramarital relationship with a female actor and alleged that he subjected her to "persistent mental cruelty, neglect and desertion." According to the news agency PTI, she said that, if required, she would implead the actor as a second respondent in the case.

She has also sought dissolution of the marriage, the right of residence at her matrimonial home, and permanent alimony from Vijay. The matter is scheduled to be heard on June 15 at the Chengalpattu Family Court.

Vijay's TVK win

On the political front, TVK won 108 of Tamil Nadu's 234 Assembly seats. The result marked a significant shift in the state's politics long dominated by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
