  • Chhathi Maiya song from The Vvaan highlights Chhath Puja on the big screen
  • Social media praised Tamannaah and Vishal Mishra's soulful performance
  • The song links Chhath Puja with film's folklore and faith theme

The makers of The Vvaan have released Chhathi Maiya, a new song from the upcoming Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia film, and it has drawn a strong response on social media for bringing Chhath Puja to the screen. Several users said they were moved to see the festival represented in a mainstream Hindi film, while others praised Tamannaah's presence in the song and Vishal Mishra's voice.

The track has been positioned around faith and devotion, linking Chhath Puja to the strength of the Van Devi at the centre of the film's folklore fantasy adventure world. The song adds a devotional layer to the film, with the makers foregrounding both the festival and the faith that drives the narrative.

Chhathi Maiya is sung and composed by Vishal Mishra, with lyrics by Kaushal Kishore and choreography by Chinni Prakash. The 3-minute-and-30-second song shows Sidharth questioning Tamannaah's faith as she insists on participating in Chhath Puja.

The video then follows Tamannaah as she performs Chhath Puja with other women. It presents the emotional depth of the festival in a track rooted in faith and dedicated to the goddess worshipped during Chhath. The video ends with Tamannaah meeting with an accident, after which the couple witnesses what is shown as a miracle that restores their faith.

How social media users reacted

Reacting to the song, one user said, "Chhath Puja on Bollywood's big screen in Vvaan is pure goosebumps (sic)."

A second user said, "Chhath Puja and song is introduced in a mainstream pan-India movie for the first time (sic)."

A third user said, "This song on Chhathi Maiya is so beautiful. Had a hunch that Vishal Mishra will be singing this and he did. This is probably the first time Bollywood is bringing the pavitra Chhath Puja rituals on the big screen and making it mainstream for audience outside the UP-Bihar-Jharkhand belt who aren't very familiar with the festival. Hope they do justice to the actual rituals and don't mess with it (sic)."

A fourth user said, "Tamannaah Bhatia in Chhathi Maiya is simply breathtaking. But what makes her presence truly beautiful isn't just the saree, the jewellery or the traditional look. it's the emotion in her eyes. There's a quiet devotion, innocence and depth in her expressions that makes the entire song feel deeply soulful. She doesn't just look the part; she makes you feel the emotion (sic)."

Another user said, "As a bihari, this genuinely makes me happy, seeing chhathi maiya and our cultural roots being represented in mainstream hindi cinema feels special...pure goosebumps !! (sic)"

What Tamannaah and Vishal Mishra said

Speaking about the song, Tamannaah said, "It feels surreal to be a part of The Vvaan and bring to life the pride of Bihar and Patna by celebrating Chhath for the first time on the big screen of Indian Film Industry through Chhathi Maiya song. It's our humble attempt to bring the Bihari pride of India on the big screen, and all we hope is that the audience feels equally spiritual and devotional the way we felt throughout the journey."

Singer and composer Vishal Mishra said, "It is truly an honour and a blessing for me to bring the faith and sacred tradition of Chhath, deeply rooted in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, to Hindi cinema for the first time. My only wish is for the beauty and fragrance of our culture to travel to every corner of the world, and receive the love and respect it truly deserves. This is a small offering from Kaushal Kishore, the entire Team Vann and me, dedicated to my people. Chhathi Maiya is yours now. Jai Chhathi Maiya."
