  • Much of her most visible transformation happened during the COVID years

Actor-politician Khushbu Sundar and filmmaker-actor Sundar C’s daughter, Anandita Sundar, has addressed speculation surrounding her weight loss, firmly denying claims that she used Ozempic, Mounjaro or underwent surgery. Speaking on the JFW podcast, Anandita said she has learnt that criticism of her appearance continues regardless of what she does.

Reflecting on years of online trolling, Anandita said she was mocked for being overweight as a teenager and is now facing assumptions about how she lost weight. “I realised that the hate will never stop,” she said, adding that people continue to make up stories despite not knowing the reality of her fitness journey.

Did Anandita Sundar use Ozempic or weight-loss surgery?

Anandita dismissed rumours that medication or surgery played a role in her transformation. She said her weight-loss journey began in 2018 or 2019 and took seven years to reach its current stage.

According to Anandita, much of the change happened gradually during the COVID-19 pandemic, when people were not seeing her regularly. As a result, many assumed the transformation happened overnight.

“I started losing weight in 2018 or 2019. So, it took me seven years to get here,” she said, adding that people often jump to conclusions without understanding the effort involved.

Why did she decide to lose weight?

Anandita revealed that both she and her elder sister, Avantika, were “chubby kids” who later became obese. As health concerns began to emerge, the sisters decided to focus on becoming fitter.

She also spoke about the emotional impact of being criticised as a teenager. Anandita questioned why people felt entitled to comment on her appearance when she was only 15 years old and not a public figure herself.

What is Anandita Sundar working on now?

Beyond discussing her personal journey, Anandita also spoke about her career in filmmaking. She previously worked with Mani Ratnam during the post-production of Ponniyin Selvan: II and was attached to Thug Life as an assistant director before an ankle fracture forced her to step away.

She recently made her debut as a creative producer with Double Occupancy, which released in theatres on June 12. Anandita is also working on Meesaya Murukku 2, the sequel to Hiphop Tamizha Adhi’s 2017 semi-biographical film.
