Director Rahul Dholakia recently reflected on Shah Rukh Khan’s remarkable dedication and skill during the filming of Raees (2017). He specifically highlighted a challenging sequence where Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Raees, is summoned to IPS Majmudar’s police station, portrayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Dholakia revealed an intriguing detail about the shoot, noting that the scenes preceding and following this pivotal moment were filmed seven months apart.

“When we shot the scene, ‘Majmudar ne aapko bulaya hai (Majumdar has called for you),’ for which he has to go to Majmudar’s police station, which is in the next scene, there was a gap of seven months between these two scenes,” Dholakia explained during a recent inteview with Mashable India.

Despite the extensive time-lapse, Shah Rukh Khan displayed an exceptional ability to maintain continuity in his character portrayal.

Dholakia expressed his admiration for the actor’s professionalism, saying, “The man (SRK) came on set after seven months. In between, he shot for Dilwale (Rohit Shetty’s film), he did several other things, and we also released the film’s trailer. Even after seven months had passed, he caught the same character, same sur (tone), same emotion. I think only great actors can do that.”

Raees, released in 2017, proved to be both a critical and commercial success, grossing over Rs 304 crore worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of the year. Produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment, the film also featured performances by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Atul Kulkarni, Sheeba Chaddha, and Jaideep Ahlawat.
