Viduthalai 2 trailer: Vijay Sethupathi fights for liberation in Vetri Maaran film

Director Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai 2, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Soori, is all set to hit theatres on December 20. The much-awaited trailer of the film was unveiled on November 26, and it has already piqued everyone's curiosity. The sequel delves deep into the backstory of Vijay Sethupathi's character, Perumaal Vaathiyaar. Along with the trailer, the makers launched the album of Viduthalai 2, composed by Ilaiyaraaja, at an event in Chennai on November 26.

Viduthalai 2 begins where the first part ended. Looking at the two-minute-39-second-long trailer, we get to see Perumaal Vaathiyaar leading a rebellion and fighting for liberation. The film also touches upon many important topics, including oppression, communism and institutionalised violence.

Apart from Vijay Sethupathi and Soori, Manju Warrier is likely to be seen in a pivotal role in Viduthalai 2. After the performances of the lead cast, it is the dialogues that caught everyone's attention. One such dialogue is - Leaders without ideology will only produce fans. That will not pave the way to progress.

Another dialogue about violence not being the language of the oppressed looks interesting as well. The film also explores how the system, including the police and the government deal with the arrest of Perumaal Vaathiyaar and the epic face-off between the police and Perumaal's men.

Viduthalai 1 saw the transformation of comedian Soori into a lead hero. The film received critical acclaim and was declared a commercial hit. Apart from Soori, Vijay Sethupathi and Manju Warrier, the second part features Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, Chethan and Anurag Kashyap in crucial roles.
