Actor Ranveer Singh kept his love for football front and centre on Instagram after Arsenal’s Champions League defeat, even as chatter around Don 3 continued back home. The actor, who was in Budapest ahead of a major football weekend, shared photos from the match and posted a warm message for the club after it narrowly missed a major European title.
His post quickly got attention from Arsenal fans online. At the same time, the actor remained in the middle of industry chatter in India, with the Don 3 dispute gathering pace. However, Ranveer did not address that directly. Instead, he used his recent posts to share moments from football, friends and some downtime.
Arsenal post from Budapest
Sharing a set of pictures from the match on his Instagram Stories, Ranveer wrote, “Proud of the boys. Fought like lions! Couldn't get any closer in a game of such fine margins. Congratulations to my Arsenal family on a historic season. And....the best is yet to come! (sic)” The message came after Arsenal’s defeat and was widely appreciated by fellow supporters online.
Earlier in the week, Ranveer had also posted a picture with Arsenal and England midfielder Declan Rice from Budapest. The photo showed the two in a relaxed moment, with Ranveer dressed in a pastel printed shirt, blush-pink trousers and tinted sunglasses, while Rice kept it casual in an all-black outfit.
Ranveer captioned the story, “About last night,” with red and white heart emojis, and added Kishore Kumar’s “Tere Jaisa Yaar Kahan, Kahan Aisa Yaarana” as the background track.
Don 3 row continues
The Don 3 controversy intensified after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) reportedly issued a non-cooperation directive against him amid reports of his exit from the franchise. According to reports, filmmaker Farhan Akhtar approached the industry body and said Ranveer’s alleged departure had caused substantial financial losses for Excel Entertainment.
Ranveer’s spokesperson later issued a statement on the issue. It said, “Ranveer Singh holds the highest regard for the film fraternity and for everyone associated with the Don franchise. Throughout the recent developments surrounding Don 3, he has consciously chosen to maintain silence, believing that professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”
What next for Ranveer
On the work front, Ranveer is set to star in the zombie adventure film Pralay with Kalyani Priyadarshan.
