Actor Vijay Varma joined the online conversation around the Met Gala 2026 by sharing pictures of himself on the event’s red carpet. The post arrived as the actor is receiving a strong response to his recently released series, Matka King.

The Met Gala became a major talking point on May 5 for its mix of high fashion and celebrity appearances at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, with several stars driving discussion across social media.

Vijay Varma’s ‘METka King’ post

In the pictures shared by Vijay, the actor appeared dressed as Brij Bhatti from Matka King while posing on the red carpet. He gave the post a character-led spin by calling it ‘METka King’.

Along with the pictures, he wrote, “Cotton market se MET gala Tak.. Brij Bhatti ka style chalta hai #METkaKing (sic)," referring to his character from the series.

There was, however, a twist. The image was AI-generated, a detail subtly hinted at by the Gemini icon in the corner. Even so, the post quickly grabbed attention, with many users responding to the humour behind his take on the event.

Soon after the pictures went up, fans were seen reacting to them online.

The post came at a time when conversation around the Met Gala 2026 was already strong on social media. Among the celebrities who attended the event were Karan Johar, Isha Ambani, Manish Malhotra, Blake Lively, Kylie Jenner, Rihanna and Beyonce, among others.
