Filmmaker-comedian Curry Baker's supernatural horror film Obsession has continued its steady run at the Indian box office after registering strong growth over the weekend. According to Sacnilk, the film has grossed Rs 9.39 crore in India by Day 4, with live collections of Rs 0.08 crore reported on Monday from 333 shows.
The film's performance comes after a notable weekend jump that helped it build momentum among Indian audiences. After opening to Rs 1.75 crore gross on Friday, Obsession climbed to Rs 2.75 crore gross on Saturday, reflecting growing interest in the low-budget horror title that has become a global box office phenomenon.
How has Obsession performed at the Indian box office?
Distributed by Universal Pictures in India, Obsession opened to Rs 1.75 crore on Friday from 859 shows, registering 34 per cent occupancy. The film witnessed growth on Saturday, collecting Rs 2.75 crore from 1,151 shows and recording 48 per cent occupancy.

The horror thriller quickly emerged as one of the stronger-performing Hollywood releases in the country this year. Its collections have comfortably outpaced several competing releases, including the Bollywood fantasy film The Great Grand Superhero, which had a comparatively modest start at the box office.
Why is Obsession being called a surprise box office success?
Obsession has become one of the biggest success stories of 2026. Produced on an estimated budget between $750,000 and $1 million, the film has generated a remarkable $108.80 million (approximately Rs 102.60 crore) worldwide since its release on May 15.
The film first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in the Midnight Madness section before being acquired by Focus Features in a deal reportedly worth between $14 million and $15 million.
What records has the film broken globally?
The horror title has delivered several notable milestones during its theatrical run. According to international media reports, Obsession recorded the highest second-weekend increase at the North American box office outside the Christmas period since 1982. It also became Focus Features' highest-grossing film in North America, surpassing Downton Abbey.
Additionally, Obsession is the first horror film since Paranormal Activity to earn more than ten times its production budget at the worldwide box office, cementing its status as one of the year's biggest breakout hits.
