Ramamurthy Naidu, younger brother of Chandrababu Naidu, died at the age of 72 after a prolonged illness. He had been hospitalised three days earlier and was on a ventilator.

Ramamurthy Naidu, younger brother of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu died at the age of 72 in Hyderabad after a prolonged illness.

Ramamurthy Naidu had been hospitalised three days earlier due to cardio-respiratory issues and was on a ventilator.

He was brought to AIG hospital in Hyderabad's Gachibowli in a state of cardiac arrest at 8 pm on November 14. According to the hospital, he died at 12.45 pm on November 16.

The final rites will be held on Sunday, November 17 in Naravaripalle village.

Ramamurthy Naidu was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly after he won the Chandragiri constituency in the 1994 elections, representing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He is the father of actor and film producer Nara Rohit, an alumnus of the New York Film Academy.

Sharing a picture of himself with his younger brother, Chandrababu Naidu tweeted, "With a heavy heart, I inform everyone that my brother, former Chandragiri MLA Nara Rammurthy Naidu, has left us. Rammurthy Naidu was a leader who served the people with a pure heart in public life. His departure has filled our family with immense sorrow. I pray that his soul will find peace."

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his condolences to Chandrababu Naidu. He tweeted "The death of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's brother, former MLA Nara Rammurthy Naidu, is deeply shocking. Praying to God for his soul to rest in peace, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family members."

Nara Lokesh, son of Chandrababu Naidu, said that the death of his uncle Rammurthy Naidu filled him with immense sorrow. He tweeted, "Memories of my childhood bond with him come flooding back, bringing tears to my eyes as I pay tribute to him. My uncle, who was a pillar of visible strength for us all these years, will now remain an everlasting memory. I pray to God for his soul to rest in peace. I urge everyone to stay strong during this time of profound sadness."

Lok Sabha MP Dr Sudhakar K expressed his condolences to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He said, "My deepest condolences to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Chandrababu Naidu on the sad demise of his beloved brother, Shri Ramamurthy Naidu garu. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time of grief. May the departed soul attain Sadgati. Om Shanti."
