A man from Bengaluru has alleged that an auto-rickshaw driver chased the Rapido bike he was travelling on and tried to pull him off the moving two-wheeler, leaving him shocked by the incident. He said he had opted for a bike taxi after finding auto fares too expensive for a short trip of around 2-3 km.
The man shared his experience in a Reddit post on r/RapidoUsers titled, “An auto driver chased my Rapido bike and tried to pull me off it in Bengaluru.”
Recounting what happened, he said he had approached a few auto drivers for the short journey but was quoted 120. Unwilling to pay that much for such a short distance, he booked a Rapido bike instead.
However, the journey allegedly took a frightening turn when an auto driver began chasing the bike. According to the Reddit user, the driver then attempted to grab his hand and pull him off the moving vehicle.
The man said the situation could have ended in serious injury had the driver managed to pull him off the bike while it was in motion. He added that he had lived in Bengaluru for a long time and was a local resident, but had never experienced anything like this before.
While acknowledging that auto drivers might have concerns about bike taxis, he said resorting to physical intimidation was unacceptable. He also sought advice from fellow Reddit users on what to do in such a situation, including whether to contact the police immediately or report the incident to Rapido.

The post received strong reactions from users, with several urging him to report the alleged incident to the police.
One user said the auto driver's behaviour should have serious consequences, including the possible cancellation of his driving licence.
Another urged the man to share the auto-rickshaw's registration number with the police, noting that doing so could help prevent similar incidents in the future.
A third user suggested checking for traffic camera footage that might have captured the incident. The person also shared a personal experience in which a Rapido rider had allegedly asked them to pretend they were friends because auto drivers harassed him for operating bike-taxi rides.
