  • She then brings a make-believe laddoo from the Ganpati idol back

Actor Suniel Shetty has revealed that his 15-month-old granddaughter, Evaarah, has developed a daily ritual of greeting a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and offering it make-believe laddoos every morning. Speaking in a recent interview with Times Now, the actor said the habit began unexpectedly and insisted that no one in the family had encouraged the toddler to do so.

Suniel shared that Evaarah, the daughter of actor Athiya Shetty and cricketer KL Rahul, now starts her mornings by picking up a Sai Baba book featuring a large photograph of the Prime Minister. According to him, she points at the picture, says "Modi ji, Modi ji", and then pretends to offer laddoos after first visiting the family's Ganpati idol.

How did Evaarah's daily ritual begin?

Recalling how the habit started, Suniel said it began after one of Evaarah's nannies pointed at a photograph of the Prime Minister at an airport and simply said, "Modi ji." He said that brief interaction appears to have stayed with the toddler.

The actor explained that every morning she now opens the Sai Baba book, identifies PM Modi's photograph and repeats his name before returning with an imaginary laddoo from the Ganpati idol. "There is something about him," Suniel said, adding that he believes there is "something magical" about the Prime Minister.

He also stressed that neither he, Athiya, KL Rahul nor the nanny had taught Evaarah to repeat the ritual. According to the actor, the family never instructed her to do so after that initial introduction.

What did Suniel Shetty say about PM Modi?

During the same interview, Suniel reiterated his admiration for Prime Minister Modi, describing himself as a long-time admirer of the leader rather than any political party.

He also recalled meeting PM Modi in Ahmedabad around 2010, saying the interaction left a lasting impression on him. The actor remembered being struck by the Prime Minister's punctuality, attention and the conversation they shared after the meeting, which he said remained memorable years later.

What has Suniel said about his granddaughter before?

Suniel has often spoken about the joy Evaarah has brought to the family. In an earlier interview, he described her as a "2.0 version" of Athiya Shetty and said he spends as much time with her as possible after his early morning workout. He has also affectionately referred to the toddler as the "ghar ki Lakshmi".

Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul married in January 2023 and welcomed Evaarah in March 2025. Meanwhile, Suniel was last seen in Welcome to the Jungle, which released in theatres on June 26.
