Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas has described Lokah 2 as the biggest challenge of his career. In a recent interview, he revealed that the basic skeleton of the script for the film is ready and shared insights about the project's scale and complexity.
Speaking to Sudhir Srinivasan on YouTube, Tovino explained that Lokah 2 involves portraying 389 versions of himself, though he is uncertain how all these will be presented in the film. "By the time all of them are introduced, the film might end up being just an introduction, and we may need Lokah 3 to tell the rest of the story. However, the basic skeleton of the script is ready, and we are in discussions," he said.
Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which released earlier in 2025, starred Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen. Directed by Dominic Arun, it centred on a mysterious woman named Chandra who is brought from Sweden to Karnataka by a secret organisation.
Chandra leads a quiet life in Bengaluru until she meets Sunny, a young man who develops feelings for her. The plot thickens when her involvement in an organ-trafficking ring is revealed, alongside her true identity as the mythical being Kalliyankattu Neeli.
The first film featured a supporting cast including Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, Chandu Salim Kumar, Raghunath Paleri, and Vijayaraghavan. It also had cameo appearances by Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Wayne, and Tovino Thomas himself, with Mammootty providing the voice for the character Moothon.
Lokah Chapter 1 was praised for its performances, visuals, and world-building. With the sequel confirmed and Tovino in the lead role, production for Lokah 2 is expected to begin in December 2026.
Meanwhile, Tovino is preparing for the release of Pallichattambi, scheduled for April 10. Directed by Dijo Jose Antony, the film is a period action drama about a ruffian recruited by villagers to fight oppressors, eventually taking up the cause himself. Kayadu Lohar stars alongside Tovino in this film.
Looking ahead, Tovino also has Athiradi in his upcoming projects, co-starring Basil Joseph and Vineeth Sreenivasan.
