Kangana Ranaut has clarified her "very British" remark about nurses' uniforms, saying that the concerns she spoke about had already been addressed through reforms introduced several years ago. While promoting her upcoming film Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, the actor revealed that nurses she met informed her that many institutions now follow updated dress codes and guidelines.

Speaking to India Today's sister channel Good News Today, Kangana explained that her observations were influenced by a personal experience but noted that several nurses had since informed her that changes had already been implemented.

"The uniform that I wore in our film is connected to a very personal experience for me. However, I met several nurses who told me that this issue had already been addressed a few years ago," she said.

"They said nurses themselves had felt that certain reforms were needed regarding the uniform, and changes were subsequently made. Many institutions now have their own dress codes and guidelines. The concern that I personally felt existed had actually been addressed around seven or eight years ago," the Manikarnika actor added.

Kangana's clarification comes after her earlier interview with news agency ANI, where she spoke about the dress code followed by nurses and suggested that traces of the British-era uniform system were still visible in the profession.

“I feel that the dress code of British nurses is still in use. Our nurses, like doctors, can wear whatever they want to wear; they get a code. But our nurses, whether the weather is hot or cold, in a way, have a foreign look. This is my personal opinion. But in this film, we have worked with integrity and dignity. The shape and size doesn't matter, your uniform is your duty,” she said.

During the conversation, Kangana emphasised that her views were personal and not intended to undermine the profession.

"This is my personal opinion. But in this film, we have worked with integrity and dignity. The shape and size don't matter; your uniform is your duty," she said.

The 40-year-old actor further added, "I personally feel that it is a very British look - putting a pin, a cap, or a belt on top of the uniform is an influence of the US Navy, the way it was during World War I and II."

The actor also suggested that nurses' uniforms should be "Indianised." While Kangana highlighted the British influence on traditional nursing attire, uniforms worn by nurses across India have evolved significantly over the decades since Independence, with many healthcare institutions adopting more modern and practical dress codes.
