The trailer of Pratap, an upcoming action drama starring Amit Sadh and Esha Deol, is out now. It offers a glimpse into the dramatic turn of events that takes a decorated encounter specialist from enforcing the law to life behind bars.

Moving between the police officer's past and present, the trailer holds back the reasons for his imprisonment while setting up the battle ahead. Written and directed by Sachin Saraf, the film also stars Seema Biswas, Tigmanshu Dhulia and Milind Gunaji.

Sadh plays Pratap, a police officer whose world is turned upside down after he is imprisoned. Through confrontations, action sequences and unexpected developments, the trailer traces the journey of a man who once upheld the law but must now fight his own battle.

Speaking about the role, Sadh said, “Pratap is not your conventional cop story. What interested me was the journey of a man who has spent his life enforcing the law, only to find himself on the other side of it. There are so many emotions and contradictions within this character, and as an actor, that made him interesting to portray. The trailer gives you a glimpse of his world, but there is a lot more to his story than what meets the eye.”

A narrative with several layers

Deol said the story is not as straightforward as it first appears. According to her, the narrative gradually changes how its characters and their circumstances are viewed.

“What I liked about Pratap was that the story isn't as straightforward as it may seem. There are several layers to the narrative, and as the story unfolds, you begin to see the characters and their circumstances differently. Working with Amit and Sachin has been a wonderful experience, and I'm looking forward to audiences discovering what the film has in store,” she said.

Choices, consequences and conflicting emotions

Saraf said the film explores choices, consequences and the fine line between right and wrong. He added that the team had sought to balance grounded storytelling with the action and emotion required by the narrative.

“With Pratap, I wanted to tell a story about a man whose life changes completely when he finds himself in a situation he never imagined. It's a film about choices, consequences and the fine line between right and wrong. We have tried to keep the storytelling grounded while bringing in the action and emotions that the narrative demands. The trailer is only the beginning of what unfolds in the film,” he said.

Makers back Sachin Saraf's vision

Producer Pradeep Rangwani said the team had believed in Saraf's vision from the beginning. He also praised Sadh for bringing depth to Pratap and credited the ensemble cast for adding to the film.

“Pratap is a film we have put a lot of conviction and effort into. From the beginning, we believed in Sachin's vision and the story he wanted to tell. Amit has brought great depth to the character, and we have a wonderful ensemble cast that adds to the film. We are happy to finally share the trailer with audiences and look forward to bringing Pratap to cinemas on November 20,” Rangwani said.

Produced by Rangwani and presented by UV Films, Pratap follows its central character's transition from decorated encounter specialist to prisoner while keeping the circumstances behind his downfall under wraps.

It is scheduled to be released in cinemas on November 20.
