Actor and TVK chief Vijay visited the Tiruchendur Murugan temple in Tamil Nadu days after the polling phase and ahead of the election results, which will be announced on May 4. After spending a few days at home, he quietly planned the spiritual trip and flew from Chennai to Madurai late at night in a private flight.

Even at midnight, fans gathered at Madurai airport to see Vijay, whose upcoming film is Jana Nayagan. He greeted them by waving and briefly stood through his car’s sunroof to acknowledge the crowd. He was dressed in a traditional silk veshti and shirt instead of his usual white shirt and trousers, and police stepped in to manage the crowd after his vehicle was delayed while leaving the airport.

From Madurai, Vijay travelled by road to Tiruchendur and reached the Murugan temple early in the morning. He took part in the special Viswaroopa darshan and offered prayers. Temple authorities welcomed him and presented him with a sacred ‘Vel’ as a mark of respect.

People gathered to see him inside the temple as well. Many devotees remarked on his calm and simple appearance during the visit. After completing the darshan, Vijay left the temple and planned to return to Chennai via Madurai.

On the work front, Vijay is preparing for the release of Jana Nayagan, which has been stuck in a censor board limbo since January. Directed by H Vinoth, the film features Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, Mamitha Baiju and Narain in key roles. Vijay’s temple visit and the crowd response to his public appearance have also kept attention on the actor, the upcoming election results and his upcoming film.
