Amaran box office day 10: Sivakarthikeyan's film explodes worldwide in 2nd weekend
With Rs 200 crore in 10 days worldwide, Tamil film Amaran is rewriting the history of cinema in the state. Starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in important roles, it recorded a fantastic second Saturday domestically, taking the total earnings to around Rs 136 crore nett in India.

Actor Sivakarthikeyan-led biopic, Amaran, showed a solid performance at the box office in its 10-day run. The film, based on the life of Major Mukund Varadrajan, is running at Rs 136.75 crore nett domestically, while it has already gone past Rs 200 crore gross worldwide. The film's second-weekend collection is especially noteworthy, considering it went back to earning in the double digits on its second Saturday at the ticket window.
The Tamil film, which also stars Sai Pallavi in the lead, collected around Rs 14.50 crore nett on its 10th day at the box office, reported the trade website Sacnilk. Amaran's business is already considered a blockbuster success for the Tamil film industry.

Out of this Rs 14.50 crore nett on its second Saturday, around Rs 11 crore nett came from the Tamil market alone. In fact, the film has recently surpassed the lifetime business of Vettaiyan in the Tamil market. The Rajinikanth-starrer collected around Rs 95 crore in the state, while Amaran entered the Rs 100 crore club in the same market within 9 days of its release. Its total collection in Tamil Nadu after 10 days stands at around Rs 109.85 crore nett.
The film has already emerged as the biggest hit of Sivakarthikeyan's career. Directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, it is based on journalists Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh's book series, India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes. One of the chapters in the three-part book is about Mukund and his mission.
Amaran is backed by Raaj Kamal Films International and Sony Pictures Films in India. It also features Bhuvan Arora and Rahul Bose in important roles.
