An elderly cyclist was knocked to the ground after a man hanging out of a speeding auto hit him while filming a reel on a highway. The incident, caught on camera, has sparked outrage online over reckless content creation.
The incident was captured on what appeared to be a dashcam mounted on a biker riding behind the auto. In the video, a man was seen leaning dangerously out of the moving vehicle, swinging and dancing as the auto sped along the highway, apparently while recording a reel.
Moments later, the man collided with an elderly cyclist riding along the road, causing him to lose balance and crash onto the highway.
What has particularly angered viewers is that the man in the auto did not stop after the collision and continued moving as if nothing had happened.
The biker, however, immediately stopped after the cyclist fell right in front of his motorcycle. He rushed to help the elderly man, first removing the bicycle that had trapped him underneath before helping him get back on his feet. Several bystanders also stepped in to assist.
The video has triggered outrage, with many condemning the growing trend of risky stunts and reckless behaviour for social media content.
Public roads are increasingly being treated like “personal stunt circuses” for filming reels, with innocent commuters often paying the price through injuries or worse is what several users reiterated.
Several others said that the obsession with reels had pushed people towards dangerous levels of irresponsibility, arguing that legal action was necessary against those endangering others for online attention.
