Yeh Prem Mol Liya song is peak Sooraj Barjatya with Chhath, grand wedding and 'Prem'

There’s something striking about seeing Chhath find a place in a big Bollywood wedding song. After Vvaan, Yeh Prem Mol Liya is the second recent Hindi film to bring the deeply revered festival into its cinematic world. And in Sooraj R Barjatya’s hands, it comes wrapped in everything you’d expect from a Rajshri film – family, romance, rituals and a whole lot of colour.

The title track of Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari’s Yeh Prem Mol Liya was released on Sunday, giving audiences their first extended glimpse into the film’s world. It’s a full-blown celebration, taking us through weddings, family gatherings, mehndi, sehra and festive processions, with Chhath becoming part of the visual fabric.

Composed by Himesh Reshammiya and written by Kumaar, the song has been sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Nihal Tauro. Its central idea is refreshingly uncomplicated: love isn’t something to hide. “Churaya nahi, ishq chhupaaya nahi... Khulke zamaane se bol diya,” the lyrics declare, as Ayushmann and Sharvari’s characters move through their wedding celebrations.

The video is also where the scale of Yeh Prem Mol Liya becomes apparent. Grand shamianas, elaborate costumes, colourful decorations and large family gatherings fill the frame, but the song doesn't lose sight of the two people at its centre. There are stolen glances and quieter moments between the celebrations, giving the spectacle some warmth.

That balance is quintessentially Barjatya. His films have long found their emotion in families and their rituals, making weddings feel less like backdrops and more like characters in themselves. Here, too, the grandeur doesn't seem to exist merely for show. It helps build a world where romance and tradition comfortably sit alongside each other.

Himesh Reshammiya also shared the song on Instagram. The track marks his reunion with Barjatya after Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, while the film's soundtrack is expected to have seven songs. If this first one is any indication, music will be a fairly important part of the film's storytelling.

Yeh Prem Mol Liya is Barjatya's first directorial outing after Uunchai, for which he won the National Award for Best Director. It also brings back Rajshri's much-loved character Prem to the big screen after 12 years, with Khurrana taking on the role for the first time. Sharvari, meanwhile, shares the screen with him for the first time. The cast also includes Anupam Kher and others.

The makers have kept the plot largely under wraps, describing the film as a musical family entertainer rooted in love, relationships and Indian values. Yeh Prem Mol Liya is scheduled to release worldwide in theatres on November 27, 2026.
