Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has praised Imtiaz Ali's latest film Main Vaapas Aaunga, calling it a moving cinematic experience and urging audiences to watch it in theatres. In a social media post, Kashyap congratulated the director and spoke warmly about the film.
Sharing a monochrome photograph of Imtiaz, Kashyap referred to him by the nickname "Muttonkhor" and posted a birthday message alongside his note. He also praised the film's creative team and, in a playful remark, told Imtiaz to stop stealing his favourite collaborators.
Kashyap wrote, "The fresh brand new @imtiazaliofficial. After his first film CHAMKILA, his sophomore film MAIN VAPAS AAOONGA is running in cinemas. Go watch it and I love you Muttonkhor (sic)."
He added, "Keep inspiring and breaking our hearts. And stop stealing all my favourite collaborators, yaar. The rest of us need to work too. BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Kudos to your partners in this heartbreaking crime."
Kashyap also gave a shout-out to cinematographer Sylvester Fonseca, music composer A R Rahman and lyricist Irshad Kamil.
About Main Vaapas Aaunga
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Main Vaapas Aaunga is a romantic drama featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, Sharvari and Banita Sandhu in key roles.
The film follows 95-year-old Ishar Singh Grewal, played by Naseeruddin Shah, who suffers a stroke while trying to travel to Sargodha in present-day Pakistan. As his memories begin to slip away, his grandson Nirvair, played by Diljit Dosanjh, returns from England to be with him. Through Ishar's fragmented recollections, a deeply personal pre-Partition love story gradually comes to light, leading Nirvair to uncover secrets from the past.
Main Vaapas Aaunga released in theatres on June 12.
