- A May 22 circular cited unprecedented traffic and unauthorised interference attempts
- Students earlier reported slow loading and interruptions during the application process
- Applicants will get up to two days for verification requests
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for students to apply for scanned photocopies of their Class 12 answer books after repeated disruptions on its website.
According to a circular issued on May 22, the board said its website has been facing “unprecedented traffic” over the last few days.
It also mentioned that there had been several attempts of “unauthorised interference”, making the portal vulnerable to interruptions and slowing down the application process for students.
Earlier, the last date to apply for scanned copies of answer books was May 23, 2026. The board has now extended it to May 24, 2026.
WHAT THE BOARD SAID
CBSE clarified that the extension has been provided to ensure that “no student is left behind” due to the technical problems.
The board also informed students that they will receive up to two days after getting the scanned copy of their answer book to apply for the next stage of the process, which includes verification of marks or re-evaluation.
“All terms and conditions mentioned earlier remain the same,” the circular stated.
The circular was signed by CBSE Controller of Examinations, Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj.
STUDENTS FACED PORTAL DISRUPTIONS
The extension comes after many students reported difficulties while accessing the CBSE portal for downloading or applying for scanned answer book copies.
The board’s website reportedly experienced slow loading speeds and interruptions due to the unusually high traffic following the opening of the re-evaluation and answer book access process.
CBSE had earlier also acknowledged technical glitches in the system and advised students to remain patient while the issue was being resolved.
WHAT STUDENTS SHOULD DO NOW
Students who wish to obtain scanned copies of their Class 12 answer books can continue applying through the official CBSE portal till May 24.
After receiving the scanned answer books, students will be allowed additional time to decide whether they want to proceed with verification of marks or apply for re-evaluation.
The board has advised students to make use of the extended timeline and complete the process carefully within the revised schedule.
