The reported destination wedding has also brought renewed attention to their relationship, which has remained largely private despite years of speculation. While Anirudh has established himself as one of India's most sought-after music composers, Kavya has emerged as a prominent business leader through her association with the Sun Group and its sports ventures.

Together, they could become one of the most influential couples in Indian entertainment and business – bringing together the worlds of cinema, music, media and sports.

Anirudh and Kavya: From New York sighting to wedding buzz

Rumours surrounding Anirudh and Kavya's relationship gained considerable traction in November 2025, when the two were spotted walking together on the streets of New York City. A UK-based travel vlogger reportedly captured the pair during a YouTube livestream, and the footage quickly made its way across social media platforms.

The video showed Anirudh and Kavya walking together in casual winter clothing, seemingly unaware that they were being filmed. The original clip was subsequently taken down, although screenshots and reposts continued to circulate online.

The sighting fuelled speculation about their relationship, with fans wondering whether the two had been seeing each other for some time. However, neither Anirudh nor Kavya publicly confirmed the nature of their relationship.

The speculation had surfaced earlier as well. In June 2025, Anirudh addressed reports about an impending wedding, writing on X, "Marriage ah? lol .. Chill out guys. Please stop spreading rumours."

While the composer dismissed the marriage reports at the time, the speculation surrounding the two continued. Anirudh's uncle, actor Y Gee Mahendra, later spoke about the possibility of the wedding, adding to the buzz.

Who is Anirudh Ravichander?

Anirudh Ravichander is among the most influential music composers in contemporary Indian cinema. The composer is Rajinikanth's nephew; his mother, Lakshmi, is the superstar's sister. He made his debut with the 2012 Tamil film 3, starring Dhanush and Shruti Haasan. The film's song Why This Kolaveri Di became a global internet sensation, introducing Anirudh to audiences far beyond Tamil cinema.

Since then, he has built a formidable body of work, composing music for some of the biggest stars in the country, including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan and Pawan Kalyan.

His soundtracks for films such as Ethirneechal, Remo, Kaththi, Vikram, Jailer, Leo and Jawan to name a few have helped establish him as a composer with significant commercial appeal across industries. His energetic compositions, electronic influences and ability to create viral musical moments have made him a major force in Indian film music.

Anirudh's association with his uncle Rajinikanth has also been an important part of his career. The composer has worked with the superstar on several films, including Petta, Darbar, Jailer, Vettaiyan and Coolie. His music for Rajinikanth's films has become an integral part of their commercial appeal, particularly through the actor's high-energy introduction sequences and celebratory anthems.

Over the years, Anirudh has expanded his presence beyond Tamil cinema, working on Telugu and Hindi projects and becoming one of the few composers whose music enjoys considerable popularity across languages.

Anirudh's entrepreneurial journey: From film music to business

While Anirudh is best known for his music, he has also begun expanding his professional interests into business.

In February 2026, he launched Albuquerque Records, his own music label. The venture is intended to release music from his film projects as well as independent pop music, while also providing a platform for emerging artists. The label marks a significant step in Anirudh's career, allowing him to explore music ownership and build a catalogue beyond his work as a film composer.

He has also entered the food and beverage sector. Anirudh joined VS Mani & Co, a Bengaluru-based South Indian filter coffee and snacks brand, as a co-founder and brand ambassador in 2024.

Another notable venture is Loca Loka Tequila, which he co-founded with actor-producer Rana Daggubati and entrepreneur Sree Harsha Vadlamudi. The brand has expanded his business interests into the alcoholic beverages segment. Anirudh has also invested in Ironhill, a hospitality business, through Albuquerque Records.

These ventures indicate that his professional ambitions extend beyond composing music for films. From building an independent music label to investing in consumer brands and hospitality, Anirudh is developing a business portfolio alongside his career in cinema.

Who is Kavya Maran?

Kavya Maran is the daughter of Sun Group chairman Kalanithi Maran and Kavery Maran. She is an executive director at Sun TV Network and has been associated with the organisation since 2016. She is best known for her role in the Sun Group's sports operations, particularly as the face of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.

Kavya's public profile rose significantly through her appearances at IPL matches and player auctions, where she represents the franchise. Her involvement with Sunrisers Hyderabad, however, extends beyond her presence at cricket matches.

She has been involved in the franchise's operations, marketing and strategic initiatives. The Sun Group's sports portfolio has also expanded internationally, with Sunrisers Eastern Cape competing in South Africa's SA20 league and Sunrisers Leeds participating in England's The Hundred competition.

Kavya is also involved in the wider business interests of the Sun Group, which operates television channels, radio networks, film production and sports ventures.

Her role in the organisation includes involvement in strategic initiatives across the company's businesses, including its digital operations, professional sports and movie production.

The Sun Group's association with cinema also brings Kavya into the same professional ecosystem as Anirudh. Sun Pictures, the group's film production arm, has produced several major Tamil films, including Rajinikanth's Jailer and Jailer 2.

Greece wedding, Chennai reception: What we know

Anirudh and Kavya are reportedly set to marry in Greece in November, with reports suggesting that the ceremony will take place on November 11. The destination wedding is expected to be an intimate affair, attended by close family members and friends.

The Chennai reception, however, has been confirmed through an official announcement by the Telangana Chief Minister's Office. Kalanithi Maran and his wife, Kavery Maran, met Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at his residence in Hyderabad and invited him to the wedding reception of their daughter, Kavya Maran.

The Telangana CMO subsequently announced that the reception of Kavya Maran and Anirudh Ravichander would be held in Chennai on November 21.

The wedding invitation has also attracted attention, with reports suggesting that several prominent personalities from politics, cinema and business have been invited to the celebrations.
