Bollywood veteran actor Neena Gupta recently revealed that she auditioned for Christopher Nolan's Tenet, a role that ultimately went to Dimple Kapadia. During her recent appearance on Kareena Kapoor's show, the actor shared her thoughts on why the audition didn't work out, despite flying to Los Angeles for it.

While speaking to Kareena on her show, What Women Want, Neena Gupta said, "I auditioned for Christopher Nolan’s film Tenet in Los Angeles. First, I recorded an audition tape here and sent it to him. He selected me, along with four other ladies. Ultimately, Dimple did the role. She didn’t even go to LA."

She added, "I always fail at auditions. Auditions don’t work for me. If they don’t take my audition, I ace it, but whenever they do, I get rejected. It is the director’s image of the character. You can’t do anything about it. I thought I would ask Dimple, ‘Tu toh waha gayi bhi nahi' (You didn't even go there)."

Tenet, directed by Nolan, marked Dimple Kapadia's Hollywood debut. In a previous interview with Bombay Times, the actor shared how she initially thought the offer was a prank call and how she eventually landed the role.

She said, "I got a call for an audition, which I thought was a prank call. Why would Christopher Nolan want me for this film? Then I was told, he is coming to India, and I was requested to do an audition for him." She added, "When I got the part, I was nervous, and was wondering how do I prepare for the role. I told my mother, ‘Mom, your daughter is working with one of the biggest directors in the world."

Meanwhile, Neena Gupta was last seen in the show 1000 Babies. She is best known for her performance in the critically acclaimed Prime Video series Panchayat.
