Ravi Kishan says wife jokes about keeping him indoors amid viral meme fame

Ravi Kishan's viral fame has become a humorous topic at home. His wife jokingly insisted he stay indoors to avoid going viral every time he steps out.

Ravi Kishan’s latest brush with viral fame has become a running joke at home. The actor-politician, whose dance clips, selfie videos and candid interview and podcast moments have found a new audience online, revealed that his wife Preeti Shukla has a simple solution to his growing internet popularity – keep him indoors.

Speaking on a recent segment of News18 India, Kishan recalled how she jokes that every time he steps out, he ends up going viral. She even joked with their children that he should be locked inside a room so that he would “neither go out nor go viral”.

The remark came amid renewed online attention around Kishan's performances, including his ‘Kotheshwaray’ singing act and moments from his recent ‘maun vrat’ (silent protest).

Kishan's wife has previously played a role in steering him through different phases of his career. Recalling an earlier period when he was juggling several films and felt success was beginning to affect his outlook, the actor had said that Preeti encouraged him to participate in Bigg Boss.

Kishan admitted that the relentless pace of work had begun to affect him. He said he had become “arrogant” and that Preeti's decision to send him to the reality show ultimately helped him reassess his priorities.

“So somewhere, I was starting to get arrogant. That’s when my wife locked me in Bigg Boss for three months,” he said.

Kishan and Preeti have been married since 1993 and have four children – daughters Riva, Ishita and Tanishka, and son Saksham.

More recently, Kishan has also been speaking about the response he has received from younger audiences. Speaking to PTI in Delhi, the BJP MP from Gorakhpur said the reaction from Gen Z had surprised him.

“During this ‘Maun Vrat’ (silent protest), these Gen Z people had made me speechless. As far as I can remember, I have never seen anything like this in this country,” he said.

Kishan said the response had continued to grow and described the support from younger audiences as significant. He also invited young people to engage with India's political future, saying they would eventually become part of the country's institutions.

“The kind of creativity you guys are showing is unbelievable. You have taken me, my style, my words, my name, and even my fame to such a huge and extraordinary level,” he added.

Ravi Kishan's upcoming work front

On the work front, Kishan was most recently seen in Dhamaal 4, where he played Adhoora alongside Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi and Riteish Deshmukh. He has also worked on Aryabhatt Ka Zero and Maa Behen.

His upcoming projects include Mirzapur: The Movie, scheduled to release in September 2026, and Khosla Ka Ghosla 2.

Alongside his film career, Kishan continues to serve as the Lok Sabha MP from Gorakhpur. He also recently appeared on the Amazon Prime Video reality series Alliance, hosted by Kunal Kemmu, where he participated alongside his daughter Riva Kishan. He made a voluntary exit from the show in early July 2026 to return to his political responsibilities in Gorakhpur.
