Nani's The Paradise set for career-best opening, Rs 60 crore Day 1 on cards

Nani's The Paradise is tracking towards his biggest opening at the box office yet, with advance bookings showing strong momentum in the Telugu states. But with a Rs 50-60 crore Day 1 projection, the real test will be whether non-Telugu markets can add significantly to its opening.

Nani's The Paradise is finally ready to arrive in theatres, and the early box-office numbers suggest that the film could deliver the biggest opening of the actor's career. But the more interesting question is whether that opening will be driven primarily by the Telugu market or whether Nani's latest film can genuinely pull audiences across India.

According to the trade website Sacnilk's latest advance-booking data, The Paradise has recorded around Rs 18.16 crore gross from advance bookings in India for Day 1, including blocked seats. The film has sold around 8.50 lakh tickets across 6,849 shows, with an occupancy of 37 per cent and 99 sold-out shows at the time of the latest update.

The market-wise numbers tell an interesting story. Telangana is contributing the biggest chunk with Rs 9.14 crore, followed by Andhra Pradesh with Rs 5.63 crore. Karnataka, the strongest market outside the Telugu states, has contributed around Rs 2.01 crore. Tamil Nadu stands at Rs 68.54 lakh, while Maharashtra is at Rs 20.61 lakh.

The opening is therefore still heavily dependent on the Telugu-speaking markets. The bigger question is whether the film can convert the visibility around Nani, director Srikanth Odela, Raghav Juyal and Anirudh's music into actual theatrical footfalls beyond the Telugu states.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala sees strong signs of a pan-India opening. He points to worldwide pre-sales crossing Rs 43 crore, North America premieres crossing $1 million and Karnataka advances crossing Rs 1.75 crore. Tamil Nadu, he adds, is also showing encouraging momentum. "The pan-India buzz for The Paradise is very strong," Bala says, adding that the current numbers point towards a career-best opening for Nani.

The Paradise worldwide opening day prediction

Based on the current momentum, Bala estimates that The Paradise has the potential to open in the Rs 50-60 crore worldwide gross range on Day 1. "If the final surge and walk-ins match the current buzz, even the higher end of that range is achievable," he says.

Nani's growing familiarity outside the Telugu market could work in the film's favour. The actor is no longer an unfamiliar name to audiences across India, with films such as Eega (2012), Dasara (2023), Hi Nanna (2023) and HIT: The Third Case (2025) helping him build recognition beyond Telugu cinema. While his films have increasingly reached audiences in multiple languages, that wider visibility has not always translated into equally strong box-office numbers outside his home market. The Paradise therefore becomes an important test of whether Nani's growing recognition can convert into theatrical footfalls.

Can The Paradise crack the Hindi markets?

For Nani, the stakes are significant. His current career-best opening came with HIT: The Third Case, while Dasara also delivered a strong opening. The Paradise has been mounted on a larger scale and is releasing across multiple languages, giving it an opportunity to expand Nani's theatrical market. However, the Hindi belt remains the biggest question mark. Bala says the film has created clear pan-India visibility, but the Hindi advances are still modest compared with the South. "The Hindi market is where the real test begins," he says.

According to Bala, the performance after the first shows and word of mouth could determine whether the Hindi version gains momentum over the weekend. "If the content connects, there is definitely scope for the Hindi version to grow strongly over the weekend and give Nani the breakthrough he has been looking for in this market," he adds.

That makes The Paradise's opening an important test of Nani's expanding market. The advance bookings point towards a career-best start, with Bala projecting a Rs 50-60 crore worldwide Day 1. Whether the film can turn that opening into a sustained pan-India run will ultimately depend on how strongly audiences outside the Telugu states respond once it reaches theatres.
