Chand Mera Dil gets U/A 16+ after censors removed 96 seconds of kissing scenes

Lakshya and Ananya Panday's Chand Mera Dil has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification with a U/A 16+ certificate following certain cuts. The film will release in theatres on May 22.

Ahead of its theatrical release on May 22, Chand Mera Dil, starring Lakshya and Ananya Panday, has completed its censor formalities with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The romantic drama has been granted a U/A 16+ certificate.

The film has generated buzz ahead of release, with attention around its title track, trailer and the pairing of Lakshya and Ananya Panday. However, the certification came after the makers were asked to carry out two modifications and submit consent letters for all child artists featured in the film.

CBFC changes

According to Bollywood Hungama, the CBFC directed the makers to remove a 10-second kissing sequence and replace it with alternate visuals. The board also asked for the deletion of 'lip-lock kissing visuals' lasting 1 minute and 26 seconds. In total, nearly 96 seconds of kissing scenes were censored from the film.

Along with these changes, the makers were instructed to submit consent letters for all child artists appearing in the film.

As per the certification details, Chand Mera Dil has a runtime of 135.36 minutes, which translates to 2 hours, 15 minutes and 36 seconds. Advance bookings for the film are expected to begin on Monday, May 18.

The film is directed by Vivek Soni, known for Meenakshi Sundareshwar and Aap Jaisa Koi. It is backed by Dharma Productions and produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra and Marijke Desouza.

This is the first time Lakshya has been paired opposite Ananya Panday in a romantic film.
