Shah Rukh Khan made a grand return as host of the prestigious IIFA Awards after more than a decade, ensuring it was an unforgettable night for his fans. During the event, co-host Karan Johar questioned him about his retirement plans, and SRK’s response once again showcased why he’s called the Badshah of Bollywood.

SRK, while responding to Karan’s question, said, “The biggest quality about the legends is that they know when to stop and when to retire. Like the great Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Chhetri the footballer, and Roger Federer, the great tennis player. They all know when to retire and now I think it’s time you (Karan) do too.”

Karan then poked fun at SRK and said, “By that standard, aap kyun nahi retire hote? (Why don’t you retire?).

SRK then added, “I am a different kind of legendary. I am like MS Dhoni. Na na karke bhi 10 bar IPL khel jaate hai (Even after saying no, he ends up playing 10 seasons of IPL).”

Vicky Kaushal then hailed the legacy of Shah Rukh Khan and said, “Retirement is for legends, kings are forever.”

Shah Rukh Khan concluded the evening on a high by winning the Best Actor award for Jawan. Before accepting the award from director Mani Ratnam, he respectfully touched his feet.

The IIFA festivities began in Abu Dhabi on September 27. The first day of the three-day event commenced with IIFA Utsavam, an evening to honour the talents of South Indian cinema. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiranjeevi, and Nani, among others, won big at the event.
