Actor Govinda recently addressed the widespread discussion around his performances at school events in Pratapgarh after videos of his dance routines went viral online. The events, held in January, received praise from fans for his energetic presence, but also drew criticism from some who labelled them small shows and suggested the actor’s career was in decline. Govinda has now responded to the remarks, clarifying his stance and sharing his perspective on the matter.
At the annual day functions in Pratapgarh, Govinda surprised students and their families by attending two consecutive school programmes. During the events, the actor danced to his popular song Main Toh Raste Se Jaa Raha Tha, sang Angna Mein Baba, and recited some of his famous film dialogues. The audience appeared delighted by his impromptu performances, which soon became a trending topic online.
While speaking to Siddharth Kannan, Govinda reacted to the chatter and said, “Wo jinhen chhota keh rahe hain wo ek CM (Chief Minister) ka hai. Aur second jo hai, Member of Parliament hain. Unhein keh rahe hain. (The ones they are calling ‘small’ is associated with a Chief Minister. And the second one is a Member of Parliament. That’s what they’re calling small)."
“Social media kisike control mein thodi na hai. Waha jisse chahe sheershak bana dete hain. (Social media isn’t really under anyone’s control. People can create whatever headlines they want there),” he said.
The Aunty No 1 actor even reacted to remarks about him travelling in a small car during his recent trip to Agra. “Unke paas allowed hi wahi hai. Aapki Mercedes sab bahar khadi rakhni padti hai. Kyunki wo wahan ka rule hai (That’s the only thing allowed there. You have to park your Mercedes outside because that’s the rule there),” he said.
In January, Govinda surprised students and parents by attending not one but two school annual day functions in Pratapgarh, where he danced, sang, and interacted with the crowd. Videos from the events soon surfaced online and quickly drew attention. During the daytime programme, Govinda appeared at the annual function of Sangamm International School. Later in the evening, the actor appeared at another school event where he sang and danced to his popular tracks.
