Fans of Gullak were left surprised after the makers announced a major cast change for Season 5. Actor Vaibhav Raj Gupta, who played the beloved character Annu Mishra, has been replaced by Maamla Legal Hai actor Anant V Joshi in the upcoming season. While several viewers expressed disappointment online, actor Harsh Mayar, who plays Aman Mishra in the series, has now responded to the criticism in an emotional video message.
Sharing a video on social media, Harsh acknowledged the fans’ reactions and said he completely understands why audiences are upset about the change.
“*I know there’s a big change this season and many people are upset about it, which is justified. Gullak is a show and these are characters people are emotionally attached to,*” he said.
The actor added that certain decisions are sometimes unavoidable and not always in the hands of the cast or makers.
“*Some decisions are things we have to face at times, and they are not under our control,*” Harsh said in Hindi.
He further reassured viewers that the heart of Gullak remains unchanged despite the recast. According to him, the show has always been about family emotions, values and relatable storytelling.
"The USP of Gullak has always been its family values, emotions and story. We have honestly tried our best to bring the same flavour and emotions this season too so that audiences can still relate to it,” he shared.
Harsh also requested fans to keep an open mind while watching the new season and judge it only after seeing the episodes.
“Gullak is not just a show, it’s a feeling. Please watch this season with an open heart and then tell us how you felt,” he said.
Soon after the Season 5 announcement, many fans flooded social media with comments expressing disappointment over Vaibhav Raj Gupta’s exit. Several viewers said it would be difficult to imagine the Mishra family dynamics without the original Annu Mishra.
Despite the backlash, the upcoming season continues to generate excitement among loyal viewers of the much-loved slice-of-life drama. Gullak Season 5 is expected to release soon.
