A car owned by popular Marathi actress Urmila Kothare ran over two labourers near Mumbai's Kandivali, killing one and leaving the other grievously injured. Kothare and her driver were also wounded in the accident.

Urmila was returning from a film shoot when the incident occurred near Poisar Metro station. The driver lost control of the car and rammed into the two Metro workers. One worker died on the spot, while the other was shifted to a nearby hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Police said that the car was moving at a high speed when the accident took place. It said that the actor escaped serious injuries due to the timely inflation of the car's airbags.

A case has been registered against the driver, and the police have launched an investigation.

Urmila Kanetkar is a well-known name in the Marathi film industry. She has featured in some popular films like 'Duniyadaari,' 'Shubhmangal Saavdhan,' and 'Ti Sadhya Kay Karte'.

She recently grabbed the spotlight on television with the hit show 'Tujech Mi Geet Gaat Ahe,' ending a 12-year hiatus with her small-screen comeback.

This accident comes days after a tragedy involving a minor in Mumbai earlier this month. On December 21, a six-year-old boy died due to the impact of the activation of the airbag following a car crash in Navi Mumbai. The boy seated in the front of the car suffered a fatal neck injury when the airbag inflated upon impact.
