Telugu director Prasanth Varma announced a new film from his cinematic universe on the occasion of Durga Saptami, Thursday, October 10. He shared the first poster of the film on social media and announced the film's title: Maha Kali. The first film from the third phase of his cinematic universe is being regarded as the first Indian female superhero film ever.

Apart from the title of the film, the poster features a glimpse of a little girl joining her forehead with a tiger. A divine light, an iron bridge and a temple with a flag on the top can be seen in the background of the poster. Maha Kali is going to be directed by Puja Aparna, who is known for her work on Martin Luther King.

The film is reportedly set in West Bengal and will focus on the story of Goddess Kali. As per the film's team, Maha Kali will "break stereotypes and redefine beauty standards in Indian cinema", and will be a "a movement towards inclusivity and representation".

While the rest of the details, including the casting, have been kept under wraps, the film is being produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal of RKD Studios. Varma is a partner in the company. Smaran Sai will be curating the music of the film and Sri Nagendra Tangala is the production designer.

Meanwhile, this is the third film that the director is working on after enjoying a massive success with his Telugu pan-India superhero film, Hanu-Man, which set the box office on fire earlier this year. He has got Jai Hanuman, a sequel to Hanu-Man, and Simba with Nandamuri Mokshagna, veteran Telugu actor Nandamuri Balakrishna's son. The director had also announced a film titled Adhira as part of his PVCU. However, there's no fresh update on the film yet.
