Malayalam's Rs 230-crore hit Bethlehem Kudumba Unit releases in 200 screens in TN

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has opened in more than 200 screens in Tamil Nadu and has also released in Telugu markets. The dubbed rollout follows the Malayalam hit's Rs 231.25 crore worldwide run and tests its reach beyond Kerala.

Malayalam blockbuster Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has expanded its theatrical release beyond the Malayalam-speaking market, arriving in Tamil Nadu in over 200 screens. The film, which has crossed the Rs 200-crore mark worldwide, is also releasing in Telugu on September 4.

Nivin Pauly announced the Tamil Nadu release on social media, writing, “200+ Screens Across Tamil Nadu! Now, Let the Celebration Begin! #BethlehemKudumbaUnit In Cinemas Now Tamilnadu Release by Primark (sic).”

The film is being released in Tamil Nadu by Primark. In the Telugu states, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has been released by Mythri Releases.

The Tamil and Telugu versions come after the film's successful theatrical run in Malayalam. According to trade website Sacnilk, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has grossed approximately Rs 231.25 crore worldwide. Its overseas gross stands at Rs 112 crore, while its India gross is estimated at Rs 119.25 crore. The film has recorded an India nett (gross minus taxes) collection of Rs 102.15 crore.

With its dubbed version now in cinemas, the film is looking to build on its strong word-of-mouth and extend its run to audiences outside Kerala. The Tamil Nadu release, in particular, comes with a sizeable footprint of over 200 screens.

The Telugu release is similarly aimed at capitalising on the film's success and bringing it to audiences across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is a romantic comedy directed by Girish AD, who previously helmed Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, Super Sharanya and Premalu. The film follows Ashley (Mamitha Baiju), a college student who moves to a new neighbourhood with her family, and her relationship with Justin (Nivin Pauly), her older neighbour. The story explores their friendship and romance against the backdrop of a close-knit community, with an age gap at the centre of their relationship.

The film also stars Sangeeth Prathap, Vinay Forrt, Suresh Krishna, Bindu Panicker, Srinda and others in supporting roles. It is written by Girish A D and Kiran Josey. Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is produced by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran under the Bhavana Studios banner.
