The makers of Aakhri Sawal have unveiled the film’s intense new trailer, offering a glimpse into a politically charged story that revisits some of India’s most sensitive and debated historical events. Led by Sanjay Dutt, the film takes on subjects such as the alleged RSS connection to Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination, the Babri Masjid demolition and The Emergency.
The film was originally expected to release on May 8, the makers have now shifted its theatrical release to May 15.
The trailer suggests that Aakhri Sawal will attempt to explore political conspiracies, ideological clashes and controversial narratives that have remained part of public discourse for decades. Packed with emotionally intense scenes and confrontational dialogues, the film seems determined to provoke discussion rather than offer easy answers.
Sanjay Dutt appears in a powerful role at the centre of the narrative, delivering several gripping moments throughout the trailer. His commanding screen presence adds weight to the film’s serious and hard-hitting tone.
The trailer also marks the return of Sameera Reddy, who makes a strong impression despite limited screen time. The ensemble cast further includes Namashi Chakraborty, Amit Sadh, Nitu Chandra and Tridha Choudhury.
Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang, the film is also set to achieve a first-of-its-kind milestone. The makers have announced that it will release with integrated Indian Sign Language support for deaf audiences, while additional accessibility measures are being planned for visually challenged viewers as well.
Presented by Nikhil Nanda, the film is backed by producers Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt. Puneet Nanda, Dr Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey and Ujjwal Anand have co-produced the project, while the story, screenplay and dialogues are written by Utkarsh Naithani.
Aakhri Sawal is slated to release in cinemas on May 15, 2026, in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
