For lakhs of CBSE Class 12 students, the wait for the re-evaluation results has ended. But the emotions are all over the place.

CBSE has released more than 87% of its verification and re-evaluation outcomes, with the remaining results expected in phases. Students whose cases are still being processed may continue to see "under process" on the portal for now.

As soon as the results started appearing, social media platforms and Reddit forums exploded with reactions.

Students should note that students who received "no change" verification results can physically check their answer sheets at a nearby CBSE office.

SOME GOT WHAT THEY WANTED

Not every story ended in disappointment.

Some students reported that their marks were revised close to what they had expected.

One student, Sahil Kumar, thanked CBSE publicly after his marks were revised, writing that he was finally satisfied with the updated result and had crossed the 90% mark in the PCM stream.

Another user, Manoj Menon, said he found no major issue in his answer sheets and received one additional mark in Chemistry after re-evaluation. "In my opinion CBSE did a very good job," he wrote.

Reddit discussion threads are filled with students comparing expected mark increases with their actual re-evaluation outcomes. While many users remain disappointed, several posts suggest that students received revisions broadly in line with what they had anticipated.

MANY OTHERS ARE UNHAPPY

The louder voices online, however, have largely been those expressing frustration.

A student on Reddit claimed that after carefully comparing answers with the official marking scheme and expecting a gain of 7 to 8 marks in Chemistry, only 2 marks were added.

Another student wrote that they had sought a 4-mark increase in Economics but received only one extra mark despite matching keywords and explanations with the marking scheme.

One user even posted on X that their physics marks had been decreased despite them never having applied for re-evaluation in that subject.

A student complained on X that 17 questions had been submitted for review but "not a single mark" was increased.

Others questioned why marks changed in subjects for which they say they never applied for re-evaluation.

WHY EXPECTATIONS AND RESULTS DON'T ALWAYS MATCH

CBSE clarified in its latest statement the difference between verification and re-evaluation.

CBSE said that verification of issues observed deals with concerns such as missing pages, blurred scans, missing supplementary sheets, incorrect answer books, or wrong marking schemes.

Re-evaluation, meanwhile, involves a fresh review of specific answers after students obtain scanned copies of their answer sheets.

The board has repeatedly stated that review processes do not automatically lead to higher marks. Scores can increase, decrease, or remain unchanged depending on the findings.

THE WAIT ISN'T OVER YET

With 13% of applications still pending, more reactions are likely in the coming days.

For some students, the revised result has brought relief and closure. For others, the outcome has only reopened the debate over marking, moderation, and what a fair re-evaluation should actually look like.
