Actor Dia Mirza recently welcomed director-choreographer Farah Khan into her Mumbai home for a vlog on the latter's YouTube channel. While the two baked healthy banana bread and reminisced about old times, Dia recalled a comment Salman Khan made during the shoot of Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge that left her stunned as a teenager.
During the conversation, Dia shared that Salman had once predicted she would eventually play his mother on screen. Looking back at the moment, she said she was just 19 and was sitting with Salman and Rajpal Yadav while waiting for a shot. Noticing that the actor playing Salman's mother looked quite young despite having recently had a baby, Dia pointed it out to him.
Recalling the exchange, she said, "I told him, 'She must be very young.' He said, 'Don't worry, this will happen to you as well.'" Dia admitted the remark had horrified her at the time, laughing as she recounted the memory.
The anecdote resurfaced after Farah suggested that Dia should reunite with Salman on screen. Dia joked that the actor now works with younger female actors before recalling his prediction from the early days of her career.
The duo also looked back at the making of the 2002 film Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge. Dia reminded Farah of a song shoot that drew a crowd of nearly two lakh people and asked if she remembered how the team managed to escape the chaos and make it back to the hotel.
Farah then recalled filming another song sequence at a fort, saying it was completed in just half a day. She remembered that there were no vanity vans on location, so Dia would quickly change costumes behind a tree, while Salman would simply change on the spot.
Keeping the joke going, Farah quipped that if Salman was ever looking for someone to play his mother in Matrabhoomi, he should give Dia a call.
Later in the vlog, she jokingly told her cook, Dilip, that Dia was going to play Salman's mother in an upcoming project. When Dilip replied, "Right now, no," and said Dia looked more like Salman's younger sister, Farah shot back, "Why can't she look like his heroine? Why did you have to say younger sister?"
Directed by Pankaj Parashar, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge released in 2002. The romantic action drama starred Salman Khan, Dia Mirza, Sushmita Sen and Arbaaz Khan in pivotal roles, with supporting performances by Inder Kumar, Nishigandha Wad, Sharat Saxena, Mukesh Rishi, Rajpal Yadav, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Anjan Srivastav, Pankaj Dheer, Alok Nath, Razak Khan, Johnny Lever and Sumeet Pathak.
