Israel ready for ceasefire if Hamas releases hostages, says Israeli envoy Reuven Azar

Israeli Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, stated that Israel is open to a ceasefire but emphasised that it requires Hamas to disarm and release hostages. Azar noted that Israel aims to re-establish stability in the region and would support Hamas’s exit from the Gaza Strip under such terms.

When asked about the duration of Israel’s military operations, Azar said, “Israel is always ready for a ceasefire. We want Hamas to lay down their weapons and release the hostages. We are prepared to accommodate their departure from Gaza. We aim to create a mechanism in the North to implement Security Council resolutions. If we receive those assurances, there’s no doubt we can restore stability in the region.”
