Bipasha Basu finds worms in protein powder, seeks Tukaram Mundhe's help

Actor Bipasha Basu has raised concerns about the quality of a protein powder after claiming that she found tiny worms inside a newly opened jar. Sharing a video on Instagram Stories, Bipasha tagged Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe and sought his intervention.

“@tukaram_ias You are our only hope. So we dont get spoilt or adulterated stuff in everything that we purchase,” Bipasha wrote while tagging Mundhe.

In the video, Bipasha showed what appeared to be a tiny worm on her finger. She said, “This Isopure (protein powder brand) is full of small worms. Tiny, tiny worms. The new dabba (jar) that we opened. (showing a tiny worm on her finger) These are the worms, full of it.”

Bipasha's post comes amid growing public attention around food safety in Maharashtra, with Mundhe leading a series of inspections and action against food businesses across the state.

Mundhe, the Maharashtra FDA Commissioner, has been carrying out inspections of hotels, restaurants and other food establishments in Mumbai and elsewhere. His crackdown has included action over alleged adulteration and violations involving products such as milk and paneer, with several establishments facing licence suspensions.

His work has also caught the attention of Bollywood celebrities in recent days.

Actor Preity Zinta was recently spotted in Mumbai wearing a black T-shirt with the words ‘Team Tukaram Mundhe’ written on it. Her outfit was seen as a public show of support for the official's food safety drive.

Twinkle Khanna had also commented on the attention around Mundhe's inspections. Sharing her thoughts in a post, the actor-turned-author wrote, “Is it really so rare to see a government official simply doing his job that it has become news?”

With Bipasha's latest post, the conversation around food safety has now found another voice from the film industry.
