Ahead of his upcoming action thriller King, actor Abhishek Bachchan recalled an important piece of career advice given to him by actor Shah Rukh Khan during their formative years. Bachchan reflected on his childhood Sundays spent playing cricket at filmmaker Aditya Chopra’s residence alongside Uday Chopra, Hrithik Roshan, and Sikandar Kher, during which Khan served as a guiding figure for the group of aspiring actors.
Speaking to BBC Asian Network, Bachchan described Khan as an "elder brother" who has consistently supported his craft. He revealed that the superstar has "literally taken personal responsibility several times now, including in King as well."
Recounting a conversation from before his acting debut, the Dhoom actor shared that he once asked Khan, "Which is your favourite film?"
Responding to the query, Khan said, "My favourite film is the film I am doing right now. Because if that is not my favourite film, then why am I doing it?"
Embracing the philosophy for his own filmography, Bachchan said, "So, what I am doing right now has to be my favourite. What has happened in the past is the past. I don't think about it. Right now it is King."
Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film is produced by Gauri Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment alongside Siddharth Anand and Mamta Anand’s Marflix Pictures.
King marks the big-screen debut of Suhana Khan, who plays a young protege trained by a veteran assassin, played by Shah Rukh Khan. The high-octane action thriller features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Abhay Verma, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Arshad Warsi. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on December 24, 2026.
Meanwhile, Bachchan was last seen in the ZEE5 film, Kaalidhar Laapata. Directed by Madhumita, it was the Hindi remake of her own Tamil film, KD A Karuppu Durai.
