Actor Pooja Hegde has strongly condemned the leak of Vijay's last film, Jana Nayagan, online. She expressed her disappointment in an Instagram story on Saturday, highlighting the hard work and dedication behind the project.
Pooja urged fans to respect the efforts of everyone involved by watching the film through official channels. She emphasised the importance of experiencing the movie on the big screen, especially as it is Vijay's final film.
Strong reaction from Pooja Hegde
In her message, Pooja wrote, "My lovely audience. A film is the result of countless hours, creative risks, personal sacrifices, and a team that showed up every single day hoping to give you the best experience possible (sic)."
She added, "Seeing our film leaked online is disheartening, not just for me, but for every single person who worked on it. To see it being leaked and shared illegally is tough—not because of numbers, but because it takes away the respect that every artist and technician on the film deserves. Plus, don’t we all deserve to gather together to celebrate and watch Vijay sir’s last film, one last time, on the big screen in the right way (sic)."
Pooja concluded her appeal by urging viewers to wait for the official release, saying, "So let’s watch it the right way. Let’s wait. It will be out in due time. Let’s not encourage piracy. That’s how cinema and art will survive (sic)."
Industry voices concern over leak
The leak has sparked strong reactions from several prominent South Indian film personalities. Filmmakers AR Murugadoss, Raghava Lawrence, Pa Ranjith and actor Karthi have all condemned the unauthorised circulation of Jana Nayagan.
AR Murugadoss wrote on social media, "When a film gets leaked, it’s not just a movie — it’s dreams, sweat, and livelihoods. Please support films the right way—only in theatres and official platforms." Raghava Lawrence highlighted the dedication behind filmmaking and called piracy a direct disrespect to the artists and technicians.
Actor Karthi described the leak as "hurtful to an entire industry" and appealed to audiences to support the film through proper channels. Pa Ranjith called the leak "truly upsetting and absolutely unacceptable," urging for strict action against those responsible.
Veteran actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have also condemned the leak, with Rajinikanth calling for strict action and Kamal Haasan linking the issue to delays in the film’s certification process.
The production house, KVN Productions, has launched a legal investigation and reminded the public that piracy is a criminal offence under copyright laws.
