In Short

  • Dhurandhar 2 runs strong 50 days, among biggest Indian films ever
  • The film's India nett is Rs 1,140.53 crore, domestic gross Rs 1,365.03 crore
  • It has already gone past Baahubali 2 at the box office

Fifty days after its release, Dhurandhar: The Revenge is still pulling audiences into theatres, and the numbers now place it among the biggest Indian films of all time.

According to live tracking by Sacnilk, the film was still playing in 721 shows across India on day 50 and added another Rs 0.36 crore to its total. That took its India nett collection to Rs 1,140.53 crore, while the domestic gross stood at Rs 1,365.03 crore at the time of reporting.

The film had already crossed a major milestone earlier this week when it overtook Baahubali 2: The Conclusion's worldwide gross of Rs 1,788.06 crore on day 46. With that, it officially became the second highest-grossing Indian film worldwide, behind only Dangal. By day 50, its worldwide gross had reached Rs 1,791.55 crore, including Rs 426.35 crore from overseas markets.

What makes the run stand out even more is how consistently the film performed over weeks. After a massive opening week of Rs 674.17 crore, it continued to hold strong instead of crashing after the initial buzz - something many recent big-budget films have struggled with.

Here’s how the film performed week by week - nett collection (Sacnilk):

  • Week 1: Rs 674.17 crore
  • Week 2: Rs 263.65 crore
  • Week 3: Rs 110.60 crore
  • Week 4: Rs 54.70 crore
  • Week 5: Rs 19.52 crore
  • Week 6: Rs 12.45 crore
  • Week 7: Rs 5.58 crore
  • Total: Rs 1,140.67 crore

Over the course of its theatrical run, the sequel ended up setting several records. It became the first Hindi film to cross Rs 1,000 crore nett in India and also maintained Hindi nett collections of over Rs 40 crore for 11 straight days. It touched Rs 500 crore in just six days and crossed Rs 1,000 crore worldwide within seven days - a pace rarely seen for a Hindi release.

The raining records

  1. Dhurandhar 2 also pulled off something no other Hindi film has managed before: recording Rs 100 crore nett in Hindi in a single day twice.
  2. Its overseas performance added another layer to the success story. The film became the highest-grossing Indian film worldwide excluding the China and Gulf markets. In Australia, it crossed A$8 million to become the biggest Indian film ever in the territory, while in the United Kingdom, it emerged as the highest-grossing Hindi film with earnings above £4.39 million.
  3. The success has also pushed the larger franchise into record territory. Together, the two films in the Dhurandhar series have now crossed Rs 3,100 crore in worldwide gross, making it the first Indian film duology to achieve the feat.
  4. Apart from box office numbers, the film also saw strong audience engagement online during its theatrical run. More than 1.82 crore tickets have been sold on BookMyShow so far, with urban multiplex audiences continuing to show up even in later weeks.

Interestingly, the film arrived with factors that could have easily limited its reach - an A-rating, a long runtime and a gritty narrative-driven treatment. Instead, those elements seem to have helped position it as a larger theatrical event rather than a routine commercial release.

At a time when many big-ticket films struggle to survive beyond the second or third week, Aditya Dhar's sequel managed to stay in conversation and sustain footfall for nearly two months. And with 50 days now complete, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has turned its theatrical run into one of the defining box office stories in recent Hindi cinema.
