Nearly two decades after playing Yohaan Nandkishore Awasthi in Taare Zameen Par (2007), actor Sachet Seth has taken a very different career path. While his co-star Darsheel Safary continued acting, Sachet pursued dentistry and is now a registered dental practitioner in the UK.
Sachet, who played Ishaan's elder brother in Aamir Khan's 2007 directorial debut, went on to study dentistry at DY Patil University after the film's release. His LinkedIn profile traces his academic and professional journey, including a gold medal in periodontology, before he moved to the UK to practise as a dentist.
The former child actor appears to go by the name Sachet Engineer on Instagram, where he keeps a private profile.
Beyond dentistry, Sachet also seems to have developed an interest in aviation. In one of the few public posts on his Instagram account, shared in 2024, he reportedly posted a photograph from a cockpit and wrote, "Being in control up here makes the fiercest challenges down below shrink to insignificance. A true reminder that the horizon is endless, and so are possibilities. My first flight, but certainly not the last (sic)."
Sachet's role in Taare Zameen Par
In Taare Zameen Par, Sachet portrayed Yohaan, the disciplined and academically gifted elder brother of Ishaan (played by Darsheel Safary). While the film highlighted Ishaan's struggle with dyslexia, Yohaan was shown as a caring sibling who stood by his younger brother through his challenges.
Looking back on the film, Sachet told Bollywood Hungama that working with Aamir Khan was an unforgettable experience.
"We were children back then. We were just playing around during the shoot. We both had a lot of fun and were not as serious as they expected us to be! The minute Aamir uncle had the scene in mind, he would get us in the mood and not allow anyone to talk to us once we were in that zone. It helped us understand what was expected from us and, hopefully, deliver it to his satisfaction," he said.
Released in 2007, Taare Zameen Par marked Aamir Khan's directorial debut. The film follows Ishaan, a child with dyslexia who struggles to fit into the conventional education system until his art teacher, Ram Shankar Nikumbh (played by Aamir Khan), recognises his learning difference and helps him discover his talent for painting.
