The trailer of Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has been released, bringing Muthuvel Pandian back for another action-led story. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel promises bigger stakes, more chaos and the return of several familiar faces from the first film.

Rajinikanth returns as the retired jailer at the centre of the story, while the cast also expands with a fresh line-up. SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna are among the new additions to the sequel.

Jailer followed Muthuvel Pandian, a retired jailer whose quiet life was thrown into turmoil after his son went missing. The film went on to become a major box-office success, earning Rs 348.55 crore nett in India and Rs 604.50 crore gross worldwide, according to Sacnilk.

Shah Rukh Khan has also been mentioned in casting reports. However, the makers are yet to officially confirm these reported appearances.

Behind the camera, Nelson has retained several key members from the first film. Anirudh returns as composer, R Nirmal is handling editing and Vijay Kartik Kannan serves as cinematographer. DRK Kiran is the art director, while Pallavi Singh and Muthul Hafeez return as costume designers. Stunt choreographer Chethan D'Souza joins the technical team as a new addition.

The makers have already locked the theatrical release for Jailer 2. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 15, with Rajinikanth returning to headline the sequel alongside a mix of returning cast members, new additions and an unchanged core creative team.
