Tusshar Kapoor recalls Kareena's confidence during Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai shoot

Marking 25 years in films, Tusshar Kapoor recalled working with Kareena Kapoor in his debut film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai. The actor said her confidence, ease and support on set left a lasting impression on him.

Actor Tusshar Kapoor recently completed 25 years in the film industry. Marking the milestone, the actor looked back at the beginning of his journey and recalled sharing screen space with Kareena Kapoor in his debut film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001). Reflecting on the early days in an exclusive chat with India Today, Tusshar spoke about being in awe of Kareena's confidence, ease on set and fearless personality, admitting that she already carried herself like a veteran while he was still trying to find his footing as a newcomer.

Speaking about Kareena, Tusshar said she remains one of the most entertaining actors he has worked with. “Kareena's confidence is something else. She’s one of the most entertaining people to work with, and she has absolutely no fear of anything. She’s like a hero,” he said.

The actor added that there was a lot to learn from Kareena's self-belief and the way she markets herself. “There are no bad hair days for her,” he said.

Tusshar further praised his co-star’s screen presence and confidence, saying, “She carries herself with a certain flair, no matter which film she’s in or what character she’s playing. There are people I’ve worked with whom I’ve really watched and admired a lot, and Kareena is definitely one of them.”

Recalling their early days together, the 49-year-old actor said he was amazed by the confidence and maturity she displayed despite being only one film old in the industry, adding that she carried herself like a seasoned veteran from the very beginning. “Maybe it comes from growing up watching Karisma Kapoor, or maybe it’s just her nature, but she has always been a very confident person,” he added.

Recalling his first interactions with The Crew actor during the making of Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, Tusshar revealed that despite knowing each other socially, the two took time to connect on set because of their contrasting personalities.

The actor admitted that while he was a shy newcomer trying to find his footing, Kareena was already displaying the confidence and ease of a seasoned professional.

“She knew her lines immediately, knew exactly how to face the camera without feeling afraid of it, and had complete familiarity with everyone on set, whether it was the spot boys or the crew members. She knew exactly who was doing what,” Tusshar added.

He concluded by praising Kareena for being supportive, adding that her warmth eventually helped them bond on set. The two later went on to star together in Jeena Sirf Merre Liye (2002).

Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai is directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Vashu Bhagnani. The film marked the debut of Tusshar Kapoor. The film was an official remake of the 1998 Telugu film Tholi Prema. Anu Malik composed the soundtrack while Sameer wrote the lyrics. According to Box Office India, the film's soundtrack album was the year's second-highest-selling.
