Recently, Suriya's Kanguva was released in theatres on November 14. However, the film met with a lukewarm response from the critics and audiences alike. Jyotika defended the film and said that the film definitely had flaws and the sound was jarring, but it was definitely a cinematic spectacle.

The makers of Kanguva claimed that they're deeply hurt with the responses. Dhananjeyan of Studio Green, the production house, alleged that there was a targeted attack against the film, which resulted in negative reviews.

Kanguva is a fantasy action drama, written and directed by Siva. The film features Suriya, Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in lead roles.
