- Tamil and Telugu versions certified by CBFC only on March 19
- Dubbed prints expected to reach theatres by March 20
Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar: The Revenge is all that the entire country has been talking about ever since its paid premiere on March 18 and its wider release on March 19. However, the premiere shows saw delays in many cities across India. While the Hindi version played in theatres, cinema chains announced the postponement of the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada versions of the film.
The dubbed versions along with the Hindi original should have been ready for the premieres on March 18. However, the makers were racing against time and couldn't finish the dubbing works as per schedule. Only the Hindi version of Dhurandhar 2 was completed and sent to the theatres hours ahead of the premiere on March 18.
It was on March 19 that the Tamil and Telugu versions of Dhurandhar: The Revenge were certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an A certificate. Hence, the prints of the Tamil and Telugu versions weren't sent on time, leading to cancellation of shows.
According to theatre owners, these prints are expected to reach them by today, March 20, and the dubbed versions could start playing in theatres from night shows on Friday or from March 21 onwards.
Cinema chains have opened tickets to the dubbed versions of Dhurandhar from March 21. This could boost the film's collections across the globe.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has been receiving overwhelming reviews from all quarters. The second instalment is centred on Hamza Ali Mazari's (Ranveer Singh) past, how he becomes the King of Lyari and his ultimate revenge.
The film has surpassed Rs 100 crore on its opening day and is expected to shatter more box office records.
