Mirzapur: The Movie is taking the franchise from Amazon Prime Video to cinemas, and the spotlight is not just on the return of its familiar faces but also on what the lead cast has reportedly been paid. The film is set to release on September 4 and brings back the battle for the gaddi with Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Bhaiya and Munna Bhaiya (played by Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyendu) at the centre of the story once again.
The film is reportedly mounted on a budget of Rs 250 crore and is based on the first season of Mirzapur, though its story has been changed for the big screen. The trailer, released on August 11, showed that while the throne of Mirzapur remains central, the narrative now moves beyond Purvanchal and opens up a wider world.
According to Filmii Talks, Pankaj Tripathi is the highest-paid actor in Mirzapur: The Movie. He has reportedly been paid Rs 15 crore. Ali Fazal has reportedly been offered Rs 4 crore, while Divyenndu is said to have received Rs 3 crore for his comeback.
Jitendra Kumar, who is set to play Bablu in the film, has reportedly charged Rs 1.5 crore. In the series, the role was played by Vikrant Massey, whose character was killed at the end. Shweta Tripathi, who plays Golu Gupta, has reportedly earned Rs 95 lakh for the film.
What the trailer shows
The trailer of Mirzapur: The Movie brings Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit and Munna Bhaiya back into the power struggle over the gaddi. It also introduces new characters and familiar faces, with new contenders entering the race for control and threatening to change the existing power equations.
Pankaj Tripathi and Ravi Kishan's clash is expected to be one of the film's highlights, with Ravi Kishan joining the franchise as a new addition to the cast. The story also moves out of the familiar lanes of Purvanchal and into new settings, including the deserts, while keeping its world of gangsters, politics and shifting loyalties intact.
Mirzapur: The Movie also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi, Sonal S. Chauhan, Anangsha Biswas, Shaji Chaudhary, Satendra Soni, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Sushant Singh in pivotal roles.
The film is directed by Gurmmeet Singh, written by Puneet Krishna, and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the banner of Excel Entertainment. Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani are co-producers. The film will release in Hindi and Telugu.
The cast is also expected to begin shooting for the fourth season of the series soon. The next instalment is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2027.
